Monaco Beach Vintage Swimwear

Hello Catnips!

I’m was looking for a vintage inspired swimsuit online that would suit my curvy figure. Being a size 14 means that you can either look like an hourglass siren or a beached whale depending on the cut.

I saw a gorgeous tie front swimming costume called Red Swoon at Monaco Beach. With retro ruching it looked just right, but you never can tell whether the photos are deceptive! Well, the costume arrived and I can categorically say that this one did not disappoint! I am a 38DD and found the busy area very comfortable and supportive. The body hugs you in all the right places, whilst the ruching softens your shape and hides lumps and bumps. This is ideal vintage swimwear for a 1940’s or 1950’s look and will definitely get appreciative looks!

As you can see, the way you pose can create a very retro shape. Pushing your pelvis out will actually FLATTEN your tummy in photos, whilst keeping shoulders down, but stretching your body up will give you a flattering chest and taller stature.

PHOTOGRAPHERS!!! Shoot from the belly button! This is a more flattering angle as it lengthens the legs.

I was also lucky enough to receive an early Birthday gift from Monaco Beach, in the shape of a scrumptious black mesh and leopard print swimsuit! This 60’s style costume looks like a 2 piece, but with black mesh on the mid section! Such a great look and BOTH ARE CURRENTLY IN THEIR SALE!!! I am wearing a size large of both. These will comfortably fit a 12-14 figure.

Photoshoot with Donna Lawson

In July I had a lovely, relaxed photoshoot at home with Donna Lawson. The weather was great, so we managed to do some outdoor shots too! I meant to post these weeks ago, but what with Fantasy Forest (I’ll post some photos next!) and Covid (yes, I know, 3 times now) I have only just got the mental energy to sit down and do this blog post!

Based in Evesham, Donna specialises in street photography, but decided to branch out more into family, wedding and boudoir shoots. You can also get casting portraits, live gig photos and corporate images too!

I really hope you enjoy the ones I selected. I can thoroughly recommend Donna, especially for more candid photos that capture moments you didn’t even notice. It was a real pleasure working with this lovely lady!

You may have started to see The Severn Valley Railway’s new promo videos popping up on TikTok and Instagram recently.

I had super fun being part of these hammy shorts and it was wonderful being at the beautiful Kidderminster Station once more!

I cannot wait to sing to you all at The Engine Shed at Highley for Step Back to the 1940’s this summer, so keep your eyes peeled for more little videos popping up throughout May and June!

Christmas Vintage Pinup!

I thought I would treat you to a fun little shoot I did in the snow on Saturday! A little bit of vintage pinup for the festive season. ‘Yule’ love it!

Wearing an original 1950’s gold lame swimsuit; originally used in a circus in LA, 1940’s rubber and fur over boots and a 1930’s fur muff with ruched silk on the back with a hidden purse pocket. The boots are wonderful as you just wear your own mid-heel shoes inside. They act as wellies to keep the rain, snow and mud off your footwear!

Goodwood Revival 2017

Huzzah! It’s that time of year again where we all get to dress up and be part of something truly epic! Goodwood Revival is back in all its Harris Tweed glory. I cannot wait to sing in the VIP area again, with its fantastic vintage BBC radio set up and see all the wonderful Goodwood actors, staff and racing drivers once more. Although this year’s event sold out as quickly as it went on sale, you are in with a chance for next years event, so let me entice you with some of last year’s pictures…

Entertaining the evacuee children with a little bit of Gracie Fields.

I had just gotten to the VIP area and was doing ‘once round the room’ saunter, when a waiter turned round, saw the outfit and dropped a jug of orange juice down me by accident. Sticky, but hilarious! Had to use someone’s hair dryer behind the scenes.

The sound effects for the radio shows!

Recreating old radio shows from the original scripts. An absolute hoot!

For one of the VIP areas you had to walk through a 60’s record shop!

Another VIP entrance. Absolutely incredible England football team dressing room, including a mini pitch outside!

My wonderful boys of No.26. Can’t wait to see them again! Andrew Wareing’s 1964 BRM F1 car, P261

The adorable pedal car race. My personal favourite!

They look tough, but they are pussy cats really…

I asked for a strong tea with a tiny splash of milk. The girl Pantone matched it to the beige table cloth…

The gorgeously suave LM and his chum.

Burgh Island Valentine’s Weekend – Part 1

I was thrilled to once again perform at this gorgeous Art Deco hotel! It has been around 5 or 6 years since I was last there and was the 1st Burlesque dancer to perform at the hotel.

I thought I would share some of my photos with you and have more to come!

Stoneleigh Militaria 2014

Well what a wonderful show! I haven’t been for 6 years, so was surprised to see no entertainment or music at all at the event. Luckily I had an awful lot of exciting and random reunions that filled my time! Rex from War and Peace Revival, Paul from Wartime in the Vale, Dave King and the boys from Military World Magazine where I signed some copies of Issue 16, photographer Lee Parker, Maria and Ashley Elliot with their gorgeous little bundle, a wonderful chap who was on the Berliner journey and more besides!

I purchased a wonderful military bakelite microphone, which I later found doesn’t flipping work, so will have to try and get it fixed and a few other goodies. We really enjoyed the show and it was great to see some familiar faces and we made some new friends too!

For those interested in fashion – The shoes are Red Cross 1940’s and original 40’s silk fully fashioned stockings. The suit is 1940’s with crepe silk lining and has a matching HUGE stole in the same wool with pale pink fox trim (I did not bring it with me). My wonderful blouse is a waffle texture by Heyday Online! The hat is a beautiful 1930’s original with black velvet detailing and the pin on my lapel is tortoise shell and silver inlay with a George V crest (1st World War). The Muff is 1930’s/ 40’s with a zip purse pocket (I know, sooooo handy!!!) and crepe silk interior.
