Welshpool 40’s Weekend 2018

Welshpool 40’s Weekend 2018

This wonderful event is back for another year! Entertainment, vintage stalls, reenactors, vehicles and more throughout the weekend (29th and 30th September).

I will be singing in the town hall at 11.30am and 2.30pm on Saturday only. I will also be hosting a vintage stall, selling off some of my own personal collection of 1940’s clothing in the hall too!

Looking forward to seeing everyone again!

Fentham Hall Vintage Fair 2nd Sept 2017

I will be hosting a vintage clothing and accessories stall at Fentham Hall Antique and Vintage Fair tomorrow! It’s in Hampton in Arden, close to Solihull. I will have original Art Deco and 40’s to 60’s, with some repro too! So if you’re looking for anything to wear at Goodwood Revival or the Victory Show, this is a great chance for a bargain!!!

WWII House Dress

So here was the pattern I bought from Etsy. It was unfortunately missing the pocket part of the pattern, but I managed to recreate them anyway…

And here is the top half of what I came up with…

Thank you Shona from Heyday Online!

Kitten von Mew in Fleur Dress from Heyday Online

A little teaser of the dress I will be wearing to my Mad Hen’s Tea Party in April, when I will be dressing as Alice. The Fleur Dress lends itself beautifully and is sooooooo comfy. I will post more pictures as and when I have them taken, but for now I must get back to swishing around the office in a patriotic haze…excuse me…

Kitten von Mew’s Etsy Store!

My Etsy Store is now….open!

My wardrobes are bulging so I’m making room for even more exciting 40 and 50s fashion frolics, so some of my well loved but hardly worn pieces are up for grabs.
Here’s your chance to own a piece of me, or rather my wardrobe.

Joking aside, I hope to add more things, including my pincushions, and that everything goes to good homes. Some of it is repro, some of it is vintage and all of it has been loved and cherished.

I will be starting to sell a few Burlesque bits that I no longer use over the coming months, but for now I will be listing clothing. There are currently 15 pieces on there, so please take a look and you can always make me an offer. Also, if there is anything you are looking for in particular, let me know as I may have it.

I have listed some Vivien of Holloway stuff at silly prices too!

Heyday Online 1940’s Trousers

Kitten von Mew wearing Heyday Trousers

It is no secret that I am a complete stalker of Shona at Heyday Online. Lucky enough to be one of her models, I adore her clothing, especially the Mary Dresses and Trousers.

Unluckily for me, I have put on some weight this year due to bad health, meaning most of my yummy clothes are no longer fitting (excuse me whilst I try and find my tiny violin to play a tune of self pity…), but LUCKILY for me and my love of Heyday, this won’t stop me from wearing my gorgeous trousers!

Yesterday I sat on the sofa and carefully unpicked the back of some of my trousers, right to the join at the crotch. I popped them on, pinned the back to my desired size and hey presto! a new lease of life! Shona’s trousers have a good bit of fabric left in the waistband, tapering down, which means you can get a size or so more out of your beloved trousers! Just sew them back up and no one will ever know the torment your waist once went through (unless you post it on a blog like me!).

If you have worn through the bottom of your trousers due to lindy hop, trudging around WW2 events or general wear and tear, why not make them into high waisted shorts for summer? You can even use some of the excess fabric to crate a little pocket for the front or back! I will be doing this with some of mine early next year, so will let you know how I get on!
